Refrigerator Pickles

I tired this new recipe today for home made refrigerator pickles and it was delicious.  So, I am going to share the simple recipe with you all.  Some of you may have these veggies growing in your garden this summer already, so go picking :)

1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp celery seeds
1 tablespoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 cup white vinegar

1 cup thin sliced onions
1 cup sliced peppers, half green & half red peppers
7 cups of thin sliced cucumbers unpeeled

Put vinegar, sugar, celery & mustard seeds in a pot & bring to a boil.  Remove from heat once sugar is melted; set aside and let cool for 1 hour.

Mix the sliced veggies in a separate bowl and sprinkle the salt over them mix; set aside.

After the vinegar mixture has cooled pour over veggies; mix well then store in air-tight jars.  I used plastic jars with tight lids.

Refrigerator Pickles will stay fresh in the frig for 2 months.
Makes 2 quart jars.

~~~  I hope you will like this recipe as much as I did.  ~~~
The Generation Bush
Aren't Hydrangea Bushes Beautiful?  I think so.  The women in my family have had them in their yards for 3 generations.  My grand-mother Minnie, my mother Mildred, and now Me.
I can remember going to my grand-mother's house and seeing her huge hydrangea bushes by the back door, on each side of the steps.  They were pink too.  My mama had them in the front yard in front of her screened in porch.
I have not always had good luck with them in my yard for some reason.  They would always die no matter where I put them.  :(   Three years ago I decided to try it again, but in a different way.  A POT  !!!!
Hey it lived.  Hurray Hurray.  Boy was I excited when the plant came back the 2nd year, and now the 3rd year.  I also planted one in the dirt and it has lived too.
My tip for today is: Use a flower pot when all else fails.  You may be pleasantly surprised.
Have A Blessed Day Everyone
